Re: Games and pipes and whatnot.
I can write a decent story and also do a lot of artistic work on anything.

From my side I can do programming in Java, so if this is helpful I can lend my hand. Also I can help with storyline if it will be neccessary.

I can do 3D and texture work. I'm willing to learn some rigging and animation as well (Actually have been wanting to do this for some time now).

Well, gentlemen, we need a program coordinator. To plan and coordinate ideas; any votes as to who?

@ Wired
Maybe we should do a small brainstorm for game ideas, before we start creating a team?

Re: Games and pipes and whatnot.
If we are really going to get the game going, then we need someone who can get the people to work closely together and also beat them off their asses when something needs to get done. It's a hard job, specially with everyone managing their everyday lives and such. I mean we barely had time for gaming lately. So I think it could be a smarter idea to push the REAL teambuilding a little bit more towards the summer.
Other then that I agree with Kas, we should have a brainstorm for ideas, about what we are going to build.

We need someone to organise a start of brainstorming ideas, or we will make ideas and nothing will get done...

The way I see it, game assets (models/ textures and stuff) can be created independently from code. I already have and idea on design. Not sure if you would like it though.

haha, yeah, I just needed moment to gather my thoughtsWe cant know, if you dont tell/show us, so go on, share.
My idea is to have this tank game alien themed with 4 legged spider like mechanical creatures. (Like those bugs in starship troopers just synthetic)

Those bugs were quite detailed. Do you mean a 3D game or are we still talking about 2D?

Wait, we were talking about 2D too?, When I suggested tank game I though 3D with 3/4 perspective or top view.UF Spartan19423 wrote:Those bugs were quite detailed. Do you mean a 3D game or are we still talking about 2D?

This is my opinion and I dont push it on others, but I think Tank Game is little bit overused theme. Yes I know its hard to came up with something new, but we can try
Also, what you think do we want to make a game what would be overplayable, so you can do it again and again, or something with more storyline?

We should actually not do that. Remember that video that you showed us?
We should start with something simple, and move on from that.
Edit: six messages between the moment that I started writing and actually wrote it.

This seems quite complex to code (so that it all seems to move properly)

Yes, but then what else?
We should not over do ourselfs, that didn't work the last time either.
I think, personally, it is better to start with something that has already been done million of times, and then attempt to make it our own (adding features that makes our game different from others).

uh, code? Unity3D does allow importing meshes with rigs and animations, so that shouldn't be a problem. This seems quite complex to code (so that it all seems to move properly)
(no problem If we are talking about 3d realm, I have no idea about workflow in 2d games)

Re: Games and pipes and whatnot.
Anyone familiar with zombie estate for xbox? Maybe we could do a spinoff for pc; its a 3d game with 2d sprites, large 3rd person pov, fairly simple ai coding, and animation could be easy. Yea, i know, tons of zombie games out there. But we could give it our personality, having different characters be uf members, etc. And the map can be something simple, lotsnof open space, occasional walls, etc. I know from halo ce mapmaking that making a wall takes no more tha 2-3 lines of script, to designate the object and set a range. But just throwing this out there, since it appears no ideas have official solidified

Yes, the animations and such are imported and all without coding. But I'm talking about making the movement realistic (aka, so that legs and such will go through the ground as less as possible)
